Sound 044 – Dubfire

When it comes to DJs, there are few who have achieved the global success and international acclaim as Dubfire. Ali “Dubfire” Shirazenia has certainly earned his place within the top tier of electronic music artists, garnering numerous awards, including a Grammy win alongside childhood friend, Sharam Tayebi as the production and DJ duo, Deep Dish. The duo was nominated for their remix of Madonna’s “Music” but took home the award for Best Remixed Recording for Dido’s “Thank You” in 2002. Dubfire has had quite a storied career, from his early career DJing in the local clubs of Washington, D.C. to performing at some of the biggest and best festivals around the world.

Deep Dish has produced and remixed some of the most memorable dance floor tracks but Dubfire would eventually pursue a solo career, which allowed him to truly dive deep into the world of underground house and techno. Today, Dubfire has played every major festival including Hyte, the BPM Festival, Awakenings, Tomorrowland, and the list could go on and on. His résumé of club performances is just as impressive with no sign of him slowing down anytime soon. He is the boss of his own label SCI+TEC and has developed a live performance concept, HYBRID, he recently launched in 2014, which explores “science, technology and their connection to music.”

One of our favorite and most memorable sets by Dubfire is his performance at Tomorrowland in 2015. Dubfire would perform the perfect daytime set even though he’s very much the DJ we’d love to hear at night. Still, we can listen to this set over and over again. In fact there’s even video of the performance where you can see Dubfire in action. Check out his live performance at Tomorrowland 2015 below!!
