If you remember our list of top picks for Memorial Day weekend, we listed Sundays On the Roof featuring Cassy as one of our top picks to celebrate the official kickoff to the summer season. New Yorkers love a good rooftop, but factor in good music, good drinks, and an unbeatable view of the Manhattan skyline and you will no doubt have an amazing time. To close out the summer it only seems appropriate we return to the roof at Output for what could possibly be the last rooftop party of the season. This time around Output hosts the Vatos Locos crew with none other than the crazy one himself, Hector with Sece, Javier Carballo, and a special guest supporting. It’s anyone’s guess whom the special guest will be considering it’s a holiday weekend and several big name DJs will be in the city for other events.
Hector is one of Mexico’s most exciting exports to the underground house and techno music scene. He has an innate ability to read a dance floor and quickly switch up his style to keep the energy going. We first heard Hector at the Dockyard Festival as part of Amsterdam Dance Event in 2015 where he played the same stage as Fer Br, Egbert, Monika Kruse, Paul Ritch, and Paco Osuna. The full festival lineup was a veritable techno dream team and that of course included Hector. His schedule is packed full with stops at some of the best venues and festivals across the globe, some of which include: Space Ibiza, Fabric, Awakenings, Kazantip, Time Warp, DEMF, and Mexico’s BPM Festival. It was at BPM where Hector began his Vatos Locos party bringing together some of the most talented and underrated DJs in the industry. The party is notorious for being one of the “maddest” shows at BPM and one you shouldn’t miss. If this lineup only included Hector, it would still be one of our top picks for the holiday weekend. Vatos Locos hits the Output roof on Saturday, Sept 2nd for a special daytime party from 2 – 10pm. Tickets are already on sale at Resident Advisor. Don’t wait for the special guest to be announced and get your tickets now for the best price. Want to check out Hector now? Take a listen to Hector live at Dockyard Festival in Amsterdam. Keep a look out for our next pick to celebrate this Labor Day weekend coming soon right here on Underground!
